Hard Maple Burl Wall Clock – 18" Diameter - No. 1802

This unique piece was created from a very old Maple burl - I acquire the wood from the widow of a wood turner. It was dated 1973. Age has turned it from a white wood into this deep reddish brown. The figuring is incredible, a beautiful story of how this wood lay hidden for decades and now is free to show its beauty. 

Salvaged Hard Maple burl is rare and dramatic, with swirling grain, clusters of eyes, and rich variation in tone. Each burl forms unpredictably over decades, making it one of the most sought-after figures in woodworking. No two burls are ever alike — their natural growth creates organic patterns that cannot be replicated, giving every clock its own distinct character and sense of artistry
