Every clock starts here — with salvaged hardwoods reclaimed from trees in and around Elora. When urban trees come down due to age, weather, or development, the wood is often discarded. Instead, we rescue these logs and give them a second life.
Each piece is carefully milled and kiln-dried, preserving the unique grain, spalting, and character shaped by time. From this raw beginning, every clock starts its journey toward becoming a one-of-a-kind piece of functional art — rooted in Elora’s landscape.
Each Lightwood clock follows a patient, deliberate process — from reclaiming the wood to shaping and finishing it by hand.
Step 1 — Salvaged Wood:
Logs reclaimed from in and around Elora are milled and kiln-dried to preserve their natural beauty. Each slab spends at least a year aging before it’s ready for the next stage — a process that ensures long-term stability and strength.
Step 2 — Design & Shaping:
Every slab is studied — its grain, spalting, and texture guide the final design. This stage is slow and intuitive; shaping wood by hand means every clock finds its own form.
Step 3 — Finishing & Assembly:
Each clock is finished with natural oils and waxes, then fitted with a premium U.S.-made quartz movement. The result is a one-of-a-kind timepiece — designed to last for generations.
Every Lightwood clock is built with intention — from salvaging the wood to shaping its final form. Each piece is made with care, patience, and deep respect for the material.
No two clocks will ever be the same. That’s what makes them special. When you bring one into your home, you’re not just keeping time — you’re carrying a story that began in the trees around Elora.
Thanks for being here,
