This clock feels like the wood is old. It is, fell in 2022 here in Elora the tree had been struck by lightning and it had to come down. I counted the rings at 136 years old. But aside from the age of this wood. There is a lot of elevation in the wood and grain. It is a special piece that I really enjoyed building as it came together effortlessly. Like it was meant to be.
Prized for its deep chocolate tones and flowing grain, Black Walnut is one of the most celebrated hardwoods in fine woodworking. Salvaged from trees in and around Elora, each slab reveals layers of warmth and character, with occasional golden streaks or knots adding contrast and intrigue. Known for its natural elegance and lasting strength, Walnut carries a higher value among hardwoods — a timeless choice for those seeking a one-of-a-kind piece that blends richness, durability, and artistry.
