I make clocks because, for me, it's pure creation. A clock asks me to follow only a few rules, which leaves me free to let the wood and the moment shape the rest.
I wanted to build a vertically driven clock today, orienting the wood the way it would naturally sit in the forest. There's an incredible open space here that was once filled with bark — what we call a bark inclusion. I pulled the bark out, and where the tree grew over its own bark, that imperfection created a beautiful perfection in figuring and character.
Prized for its deep chocolate tones and flowing grain, Black Walnut is one of the most celebrated hardwoods in fine woodworking. Salvaged from trees in and around Elora, each piece reveals layers of warmth and character, with occasional golden streaks or knots adding contrast and intrigue. Known for its natural elegance and lasting strength, Walnut carries a higher value among hardwoods — a timeless choice for those seeking a one-of-a-kind piece that blends richness, durability, and artistry.
Only one available — once sold, it can never be recreated.
